Our family will be vacationing in s. california, and a trip to the S.D. zoo is definitely on the list of things to do. We'll also be taking in Legoland. Can you make any other family friendly recomendations for things to do/see? I'm not really interested in doing the Disney thing, but anything with an educational angle would be a plus.
AAACK! I somehow butchered my comment... I meant also to compliment you on some very beautiful pictures. Nature indeed does proclaim the glory of God.
Glenn,
The area the S.D. Zoo is located in is known as Balboa Park. There is a plethora of museums in Balboa Park (Ruben Fleet Science Center, Natural History Museum, Model Train Museum, Aerospace Museum, etc.).
You might want to visit Old Town San Diego for some Mexican food.
Seaworld is right there in Mission Bay.
The San Diego Wild Animal Park is about 20 miles away and is a wonderful place to see African animals in the open (although it gets quite hot there in the summer).
The Birch Aquarium at Scripps (never been to but it's supposed to be nice).
Will that keep you busy enough?
